Pet health information is collected to provide safe pet care and is not human health information.

Back to topWe do not request Social Security numbers, full credit card numbers, bank account numbers, government identification numbers, or detailed personal medical records. Please do not send that information to us by text, email, booking form, or any other method.
In rare service or emergency situations, you may voluntarily share limited information relevant to your availability, service coordination, pet care, property access, or emergency response. If you share information we did not request, we will handle it reasonably and in line with this Privacy Policy, but you should avoid sending highly sensitive information unless it is clearly necessary.
Back to topPaws & Property is not a human healthcare provider and does not intentionally request human health information. Pet health information is not human health information.
If you voluntarily disclose information about your own physical or mental health, such as telling us that you are hospitalized, injured, recovering from surgery, disabled, or medically unable to return home as scheduled, that information may be considered consumer health data under Washington's My Health My Data Act.
Our separate MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy explains how we handle that specific category of information. Where the MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy and this Privacy Policy address the same topic regarding consumer health data, the MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy controls.
Back to topWe may use collected information to respond to inquiries; review booking requests; prepare estimates and invoices; schedule services; provide pet-sitting, house-sitting, home-watch, pet transportation, routine property care, delivery oversight, project coordination, and related services; follow feeding, medication, access, and care instructions; communicate with clients before, during, and after services; provide updates, photos, and service notes; contact emergency contacts, veterinarians, animal hospitals, animal control, law enforcement, locksmiths, emergency responders, property managers, utility providers, or other appropriate parties when reasonably necessary; process payments and refunds; maintain business, tax, insurance, and legal records; document services, property conditions, incidents, injuries, damage, hazards, or disputes; protect the safety of pets, clients, personnel, property, and third parties; improve our website, forms, services, and communications; prevent fraud, misuse, unauthorized access, or unsafe conditions; comply with legal obligations; and enforce our Client Agreement, invoices, policies, and other business terms.
In emergency situations, we may use good faith judgment based on the information available at the time. This means that if we reasonably and honestly believe that disclosure or action is necessary to protect a person, pet, property, our personnel, or a third party, we may act and disclose only the limited information we reasonably believe is necessary under the circumstances.
Back to topWe use reasonable and appropriate safeguards, scaled to the size, scope, and resources of our small business, intended to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
Depending on the information and system involved, these safeguards may include limiting access to information on a need-to-know basis; using password-protected accounts; using multi-factor authentication where available and practical; using strong, unique passwords or password-management practices; using passcodes, biometric locks, or similar protections on phones, laptops, or tablets used for business information; restricting access to home-entry information to people who need it for the service; reviewing and limiting access to client information when someone no longer needs it; restricting or deleting outdated access information when no longer needed; using reputable third-party providers for hosting, payments, invoicing, communications, forms, analytics, and storage; storing or disposing of paper records securely; avoiding transmission of full credit card numbers or highly sensitive financial information by text or email; maintaining confidentiality expectations for people who work with us; and reviewing suspected security incidents to determine appropriate next steps.
Home access information is especially sensitive. We encourage clients to use temporary or changeable access codes where available and to rotate or disable codes after services end.
No website, email system, text message system, phone, cloud storage provider, payment processor, analytics tool, form provider, or communication method is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, lost, or disclosed without authorization.
Back to topFor purposes of this Privacy Policy, a "breach" means unauthorized acquisition of unencrypted personal information, or encrypted personal information together with the means to decrypt it, that compromises the security, confidentiality, or integrity of that information, consistent with Washington data breach notification law.
If we discover or reasonably determine that a breach requiring notice under Washington law has occurred, we will notify affected Washington residents without unreasonable delay and no later than 30 calendar days after discovery, unless a different period is required by law or delay is permitted by law, including delay requested by law enforcement or delay reasonably necessary to determine the scope of the breach and restore the reasonable integrity of the affected system.
If notice is required for more than 500 Washington residents as a result of a single breach, we will also notify the Washington State Attorney General as required by law.
A breach notice will generally be written in plain language and include the name and contact information of Paws & Property, the types of personal information involved or reasonably believed to be involved, the timeframe of exposure if known, steps we have taken or are taking in response, and steps you can take to protect yourself, such as changing passwords where relevant.
We will promptly review suspected security incidents to determine whether a breach occurred, what information may have been involved, whether notice is required, and what steps are needed to contain or address the incident. This process does not mean we will issue formal breach notices for every minor security event, false alarm, or unconfirmed report.
Back to topWe distinguish between operational/service communications and marketing communications.
Operational or service communications include booking confirmations, scheduling, estimates, invoices, service updates, pet updates, access issues, payment reminders, safety or emergency communications, and customer service messages. By providing your contact information and requesting services, you authorize us to contact you for these operational and service-related purposes.
Marketing communications include promotions, newsletters, referral offers, seasonal campaigns, discounts, advertising, or similar promotional content. We will send marketing texts or similar marketing messages only if you have given documented, affirmative consent, such as by checking a clearly labeled opt-in box. Marketing consent is optional and is not required to purchase or use our services.
For marketing texts, message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of marketing texts or calls at any time by using STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or any other reasonable method that clearly communicates that you want marketing messages to stop. We will honor opt-out requests within a reasonable time and no later than 10 business days where applicable.
Opting out of marketing messages does not stop operational or service-related communications that are reasonably necessary to provide services, handle safety issues, respond to emergencies, process payments, or manage an active client relationship. If you ask us to stop operational communications, we may be unable to provide some or all requested services.
We do not sell or share mobile opt-in or marketing-consent information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
Back to topWe may take photos, videos, or written updates of pets, property conditions, completed tasks, supplies, packages, damage, hazards, or other service-related matters. These service-documentation materials help us update clients, document completed services, confirm pet condition or behavior, document property conditions, support emergency decisions, resolve questions, and maintain business records.
Service-documentation photos and videos are different from marketing photos and videos. We may take and retain service-documentation materials without separate marketing permission, subject to the retention practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We will not use photos or videos of your pet for public marketing, website, social media, advertising, or promotional purposes unless you give separate written or electronic opt-in consent. Marketing media consent is optional and must be separate from acceptance of the Client Agreement or this Privacy Policy.
If you give marketing media consent, that consent remains in effect until withdrawn. You may withdraw consent for future use at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal of consent may not remove past printed materials, reposts, shares, cached copies, archived copies, or copies stored or displayed by third-party platforms outside our control.
We will not knowingly use marketing photos or videos that reveal your address, access codes, license plates, identifiable people, children, private documents, sensitive property details, or private interior details without separate written permission.
Back to topWe use third-party vendors and service providers to help operate our business. These may include payment processors, invoicing tools, website hosts, domain providers, form providers, email/text/phone providers, cloud storage providers, IT/security providers, scheduling tools, analytics tools, and similar services.
We may use third-party tools and service providers to operate our website, process requests, communicate with clients, store documents, send forms, analyze website traffic, issue invoices, process payments, and manage business records. These providers may include GoDaddy, Netlify, Vercel, Supabase, Formspree, Google, Gmail, Google Analytics, Google Docs, Microsoft online document tools, Apple iCloud, Wave, Zelle, Venmo, T-Mobile, Mint Mobile, and similar providers we may use from time to time.
We use vendors that we understand to provide reasonable data protection measures for the services they perform. Where practical, we rely on written vendor terms, contracts, or policies that require confidentiality, security safeguards, limited processing, and security-incident notification.
We do not promise that every large platform or vendor will accept custom terms from us. We choose vendors in good faith based on our business needs, available security information, and the nature of the information involved.
Where a vendor processes consumer health data covered by our MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy, we seek to use vendor arrangements, written terms, or other binding instructions that limit the vendor's processing of that data to the purposes we direct, as required where applicable.
Back to topWe keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing services, maintaining business records, complying with legal, tax, accounting, insurance, and regulatory obligations, documenting incidents, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and protecting pets, property, personnel, clients, and third parties.
Our general retention guidelines are:
These periods are general guidelines, not fixed guarantees. We may retain information longer where reasonably necessary for legal, tax, insurance, safety, payment, operational, or dispute-resolution purposes, and we may delete information sooner where appropriate.
Deletion is generally accomplished by permanently removing electronic records from active systems and shredding or securely disposing of paper records, where practical for a small business. Some information may persist temporarily in backups until those backups cycle out through normal processes.
Back to topYou may contact us to request that we correct inaccurate information, update pet or property instructions, delete information no longer reasonably needed, stop using a particular communication method where practical, or answer questions about how your information is used.
To submit a request, email us at pncpaws@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request," or contact us by phone, text, or mail using the information in the Contact section below. Please include your name, contact information, and a clear description of your request.
We will respond to verifiable privacy requests within a reasonable time, generally within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend the response period once by an additional 45 days and will tell you why.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We may decline or limit a request where retention or use is reasonably necessary to complete services, maintain business, tax, accounting, insurance, or legal records, document services or incidents, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, collect unpaid amounts, or protect pets, property, personnel, clients, or third parties.
Requests involving consumer health data are handled under our MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy.
Back to topOur website uses cookies and similar technologies for site functionality, security, form handling, analytics, performance, and website improvement.
We may use tools such as Google Analytics, Netlify, Vercel, Supabase, Formspree, and similar services to understand website usage, diagnose technical issues, improve forms, prevent misuse, and operate the website.
Some cookies or technical tools may be necessary for basic website operation. If we use non-essential analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, we will disclose them in this Privacy Policy and, where required, provide a mechanism for you to indicate your preference before such tools are activated.
We do not currently intend to use analytics tools to identify individual clients or combine analytics data with booking or service information unless we update this Privacy Policy and provide any legally required notice or consent.
You may be able to adjust cookie settings through your browser or device. Some website features may not function properly if cookies or similar technologies are disabled.
Back to topIf you give us personal information about another person, such as an emergency contact, household member, roommate, tenant, Client Authorized Service Provider, authorized visitor, property manager, or family member, please notify that person that you are sharing their information with us for purposes related to your service and that this Privacy Policy, and our MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy where relevant, will apply to that information.
You represent that you have authority or another lawful basis to provide that information for purposes related to the requested services.
Back to topThis Privacy Policy works together with our MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy and, where applicable, our Client Agreement.
If there is ever a conflict:
The MHMDA Consumer Health Data Policy controls on topics specifically addressing consumer health data.
The Client Agreement controls on liability, arbitration if any, dispute resolution, payment, cancellation, refunds, governing law, venue, and service obligations, once finalized and accepted by the client.
This Privacy Policy controls on general data collection, use, sharing, security, retention, cookies, analytics, privacy requests, and privacy practices, unless a more specific provision in another document directly addresses the same issue.
Nothing in the Client Agreement limits privacy rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
Back to topWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last Updated" date when we do.
For material changes, meaning changes that meaningfully affect how we use or share your information or how you may exercise privacy-related choices, we will provide reasonably prominent notice, such as an email to active clients or a notice on our website, before or at the time the change takes effect.
Continued use of our website or services after an updated Privacy Policy takes effect means you acknowledge the updated policy, except where applicable law requires additional notice or consent.
